In Ricoeur's biblical hermeneutics, the polyphonic character of the diverse literary genres (narratives, hymns, prophecy, wisdom literature etc.) plays an essential role in reformulating a biblical understanding of revelation where the responsive self is considered correspondingly polyphonic (praising, lamenting, confessing, obeying etc.). This leads to a dialogical concept of revelation.
Homiletics works in the area between the interpretation of the biblical text and the production of a new "text" or speech.
My interest is the incentive deriving from this understanding of revelation to the elaboration of preaching’s form and content.
How can the rhetorical construction of the sermon be inspired by the biblical text’s "revelatory" performing of the relationship or dialogue between God and human being?
